Biomass
Sustainability is an important part of what we do and at every stage we are committed to reducing energy use and waste. Global demand for biomass particularly for energy generation is soaring and is set to double within the next two years. Owing to the scarcity of fossil fuels, the global demand for biomass is being driven by population growth and economic development and is being hailed as a primary solution to global energy security.
Moisture Reduction Systems are well placed to provide assistance with energy producers, particularly with wood energy crops, or seasonal rotation coppice owing to seasonal wood chip production. In the instance of bad weather, these forestry residues can be limited as to when they are extracted. The wood chips are stored in order to guarantee a regular supply of material to power plants.
As a result of the necessity for storage, the wood chip fuel is required to meet certain criteria and specifications in order to be suitable for use and conversion in power plants. Typical criteria includes that the moisture content is reduced between harvesting and delivery to the power plant itself. This is where Moisture Reduction Systems fit in.
Owing to our diversified product basis and appetite for expansion and product development, we believe that we can provide assistance to the drying and storage process in a matter of hours, rather than days or even weeks, whilst maintaining operational efficiency at the power plant.
We believe that our solution will counter the degradation of the material and provide a product that puts the control back in our customers’ hands. Through our provision of an opportunity to manage the moisture content of the material, a loss of calorific value is prevented and ultimately a financial loss avoided.
The biomass market is booming, are you?
